To: The Prime Minister (Albanese) and Minister for Defence (Marles) within the Federal Government
ANGRY ABOUT AUKUS
Dear PM Albanese,
WE ARE ANGRY ABOUT AUKUS!
WE ARE ANGRY ABOUT AUKUS!
- It is the largest infrastructure project since Federation at $630 billion and counting
- It is simply an extension of the US Pacific fleet and nuclear umbrella
- It is already realigning Australian manufacturing and commerce to cater to the war industry
- We will sacrifice public housing, better health care, support for public schools and tertiary education, any other large scale project such as dams in northern Queensland, high speed transport on the east coast, etc etc
- There is a high degree of likelihood that we will receive nothing, but foot the bill for this folly.
Canberra is awash with profiteers angling to get their share of the national treasure which is GUSHING out of our treasury.
We will look back in 30 years and judge this to be the worst decision in a century of bad decisions.
We are careening down a path of no return.
Call a hiatus on the spending subject to the public debate which never took place.
Why is this important?
We need to take control of our sovereign wealth and stop the investment in the war machinery of our US "ally". Without any debate, Scott Morrison made a commitment on our behalf which sqanders 2/3 of a trillion dollars (while secretly holding 5 ministries) Now all the beneficiaries of this money guyser are cheering the project on, in spite of the clear fact that i) these behemoths are already "old" technology; ii) supporting nuclear subs makes Australia a target; iii) 8 subs will provide no protection from our "enemy" - who happens to be our largest trading partner. We need to put pressure on the current government to call a halt to the gravy train.
