Petition to improve Dog and Cat management practices across the Limestone Coast

1) allowing a portion of dog and cat registration fees to subsidise desexing programs , supporting owners to meet their legal obligations and reducing unwanted litters .
2) Strengthening intake,  holding and rehoming procedures to ensure Animals are assessed by Veterinarians , given appropriate holding periods,  and offered to rescue organisations where possible.
3) Ensuring euthanasia is used only as a last resort and is carried out humanly by a veterinarian and aling with ethical and legislative expectations.
4) Improving transparency and publicity reporting animal management statistics and outcomes.

Why is this important?

Reports of councils not taking animals that could be rehomed to a vet or making any attempt to find an owner also using unethical means to euthanasia animals

With no desexing programs running the number of lives lost each year is unexceptable .

There is proven better ways to operate and change needs to be made to achieve this .
