Stop Killara Golf Club's development application

This campaign has ended.

Say No to Unrestricted Construction Noise & Disruption at Killara Golf Club

Killara Golf Club has lodged a Development Application (DA) with Ku-ring-gai Council for a major redevelopment: a new multi-level carpark, clubhouse alterations, an indoor golf centre, and a cart storage building — directly facing residential properties on the northern boundary of the site.

Local residents will bear the brunt of this construction, and the current DA doesn't do enough to protect them. Here's why we're objecting:

🔨 No fixed timeline — The applicant's own paperwork admits construction will happen "in stages over time as funds permit," with sequencing and timing "not defined." Residents could face years of uncertainty with no firm end date.

🔊 Noise & vibration plan doesn't exist yet — The Construction Environmental Management Plan is a draft, and the actual Noise and Vibration Management Plan won't be written until right before work starts — meaning residents are being asked to accept the impact before anyone can say what it will be.

🕐 Construction hours could be extended — The current wording allows hours to be extended with approval from "relevant authorities," with no guarantee neighbours are consulted or even notified first.

🚛 Heavy machinery, heavy trucks — Nearly 3,200m³ more soil is being excavated than replaced on-site. That means sustained heavy vehicle movements in and out of the site, day after day.

👀 Privacy at risk — A new two-storey open-deck carpark is proposed right on the boundary closest to homes, with no privacy or overlooking assessment provided for how it affects neighbouring balconies and backyards.

What we're asking Council to do:

  • Require a legally binding construction timeline with real start and end dates
  • Lock in strict, standard construction hours — no quiet extensions
  • Require a proper privacy assessment and screening for the new carpark
  • Guarantee residents are consulted on any future changes to the design

Sign this petition to tell Ku-ring-gai Council: approve this DA only with real, enforceable protections for the residents who live next door.

Please add your signature by 28/7/26 as the submissions for this DA will not be considered outside of this date.

Why is this important?

The more residents who oppose this DA, the more power we have to include the council's decision and have an active voice in how this project is delivered (if approved).
