Oil Emergency Mobilisation: Off Grid Australia
The current oil shock has decimated supplies and infrastructure which means we will not be able to return to the status quo. All indicators point to a permanent reduction in supply of oil, fertilizer and plastic products. Unlike covid, which struck suddenly and required knee jerk reactions, the oil shock presents us with a window of opportunity. We currently have a functioning fossil fuel-based logistical network which we recognise is about to collapse. We are able to push goods around our country in one final wheeze of fossil fuels before the oil supply becomes restricted for an unknown period of time.
The Australian Government can use this short window to make a burst of effort in shoring up our systems for a less oil-reliant future. Existing systems can be repurposed, communities can be made more resilient and migration to a less globally oil dependent future can be started while we still have gas in the tank (pun intended).
It's time for all of Australia to get off the global grid, and now is the perfect time to do it.

Why is this important?
The current oil shock isn't over, and has not even worked its way to Australia in full, as of this writing. Projections are that mid April will be when deliveries are fully impacted. No one is coming to save us, we have to do this ourselves. Everyone has skills they can contribute to their local communities first, and our Australian society as a whole.
Joining the campaign isn't just an email in a box, we need everyone to start working towards an Off Grid Australia. Plant food where you can, get to know your neighbours. You don't need to be friends, just friendly. Check in on your local elderly, establish and attend regular in-person meetings as well as local messaging groups (ie facebook groups). Prepare to support each other and be wary of any divisory tactics levelled by the media.
There's no telling how bad this crisis may get. The global oil supply chain and the domestic goods supply chain is a fragile just-in-time model and this is our chance to mobilize away from it.
