Stop the Privatisation of Victoria’s Non‑Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT)

The Victorian Government and Ambulance Victoria are moving to privatise more of the Non‑Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) sector — a decision that will harm patients, frontline healthcare workers, and our already overstretched emergency ambulance service.

NEPT is not just transport. It is a lifeline for vulnerable people who need safe, clinically supported travel between hospitals, aged‑care facilities, and medical appointments. Privatisation puts this essential service at risk. It threatens job losses, longer wait times, reduced accountability, and increased pressure on emergency ambulances that are already struggling to meet demand.

Victorians deserve a patient transport system that is safe, stable, and publicly accountable. We must act now to protect NEPT and ensure our health system remains strong for everyone.






Why is this important?

NEPT is essential. It safely transports patients who still need clinical support but don’t require an emergency ambulance. If it’s privatised further, we’ll see:
