His political brand has been associated globally with authoritarian rhetoric, attacks on minorities, and open contempt for democratic norms. Why would Australia choose to plant that brand on our skyline? This project promises luxury apartments and prestige branding – not affordable housing, not climate-resilient infrastructure, not community benefit. At a time when Australians are struggling with housing costs, rising inequality and corporate influence over politics, a big gaudy tower with Trump's name on it is the last thing we need!

The Childcare Sector is in Crisis – And We Need Your Help NOW! The future of childcare in Australia is hanging by a thread, and we’re running out of time. The Victorian and NSW governments have quietly introduced staggering increases to service approval fees, and if they’re allowed to stand, the consequences will be catastrophic. The truth is, most childcare services in these states simply cannot afford these increases – some fees will skyrocket by up to ten times their current amount, increasing service costs by thousands of dollars per year. This isn’t just a small change. It’s a devastating blow that will force many services to close their doors, leaving families without the vital care and education their children deserve. But it’s worse than that. The legal grounds for these fee hikes are unclear at best. The state governments have kept these increases hidden, with no transparency or advance notice, leaving providers unable to plan or budget. These sudden, secretive hikes are not just unfair – they’re unethical. This isn’t just a financial blow to childcare services – it's a direct attack on the very heart of early childhood education. Family Day Care services, which are already running on razor-thin margins, are at serious risk. If these fees aren’t overturned, we will see entire services forced to close, staff laid off, and educators lose their livelihoods. Worse, families will be left with nowhere to turn for quality childcare, and many parents will be forced to leave their jobs because they can no longer afford care. The sad reality is, most Australian families can’t afford full daycare fees as it is. The Child Care Subsidy is limited, and these hikes will only make things worse. Providers will have no choice but to pass these costs onto families, making childcare even less affordable and putting more families in a crisis of their own. This will trap parents at home, unable to work, and destroy careers in the process. We are facing disaster – and we have to act NOW to stop it. We can’t let this happen. We need every single voice – every single one of you – to speak up and demand that these fee increases be reversed immediately. If we don’t, we risk losing the childcare services that so many families depend on, and the dedicated educators who nurture our children’s futures. Please, join the fight. Speak out, sign petitions, reach out to your local MPs, and make sure your voice is heard. Our sector is too important to lose. Our children’s future is too important to gamble with. Let’s protect childcare. Let’s protect our families. Time is running out – act now!

Common Circus is so important to the community of Newcastle for some many reasons: 1. It is unique to Newcastle. It is a local business supporting local artists and creatives; 2. It employs in excess of 30 local people, primarily women, many either students and/or mums who require the hours and part time flexibility that Common Circus can offer whilst also providing a stimulating, collaborative, safe and friendly working environment; 3. The studio spaces upstairs housing photographers, stylists, designers, artists and other creatives are both hard to come by in Newcastle and also perfectly conducive to the work of that nature; 4. It is an icon, a destination, to be very proud of in Newcastle. It has turned a very quiet back street in Hamilton into a hive of connection, creativity and good coffee

Why this is important Animals are completely dependent on humans for their safety and wellbeing. When cruelty or neglect occurs, like what happened to Arnie, the beloved German Shepherd and the law fails to deliver real consequences, it sends a terrible message: that animal lives don’t matter.  Weak penalties, such as community service without conviction, do not prevent future abuse, do not honor the suffering endured, and do not reflect the values of a compassionate society. Strengthening animal cruelty laws is crucial to ensure that anyone who harms an animal faces real accountability. Strong laws protect animals, reflect community standards, and act as a deterrent so that no more innocent creatures suffer needlessly.  Every dog, cat, horse, and pet deserves protection and Queenslanders deserve laws that ensure that cruelty is taken seriously.

Every year, millions of Australian school uniforms end up in landfill. Kids grow fast. Knees wear through. Zips are used as fidget toys. Uniforms that still contain valuable cotton and polyester are thrown away because there’s no easy way to recycle them. This is a solvable problem. Textile recycling is growing in Australia.  Responsible retailers now offer recycling. Why don’t uniform shops? The school is a convenient drop off point. Uniform shops have existing supply chains. That puts them in the great position to close the loop. Across Australia, families want to do the right thing — but without take-back schemes or recycling options, uniforms are destined for the bin. Meanwhile, textile waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the country. It;s time school uniform manufacturers to step up and take responsibility for the full life cycle of their products. Being responsible for the waste will also encourage them to design with durability and recyclability in mind. If we can recycle cans, bottles, phones, and tyres — we can recycle school uniforms. Our kids deserve a future that isn’t buried under yesterday’s uniforms.

Beyoncé isn’t just a concert. She’s a cultural moment. Her tours are about visibility, celebration, and belonging, and when Australia keeps getting skipped, it genuinely feels like we’re being left out of a global conversation. As a multicultural demographic, We show up, we stream, we buy, and we support her just as passionately as fans everywhere else, yet we don’t get the chance to experience it live. For so many of us, especially young people, queer fans, and people of colour, Beyoncé’s work is affirming. Experiencing Act III live isn’t about bragging rights. It’s about being in the room, feeling seen, and sharing that energy with a community that has waited years. Australia deserves the same joy, connection, and recognition as the rest of the world.

WA is the only state in Australia that still legally allows tenants to be evicted for no reason. That is the landlord can give a notice to vacate at the end of a lease or during periodic tenancy without cause. They can then re-advertise the property immediately with no penalty & raise the rent. WA has the least protections in the country for tenants, who are currently facing high rents, low vacancy rates, both threatened and actual homelessness and constantly moving due to these laws. Please support me in campaigning to change these laws, starting with banning “no-fault” or “no-grounds” evictions.
